Sushma Venugopal M.D.

In 2003, Dr. Venugopal received an MBBS in medicine from Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences, India. She completed her Masters in Public Health/Hospital administration at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ.

She was a resident at Coney Island Hospital, New York.

Dr. Venugopal completed her postdoctoral fellowship training in gastroenterology from 2012 to 2015, while attending Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.

She also completed Clinical Fellow in Transplant Hepatology at New York University - Langone, in New York City.

She also did an international rotation to gain skills in advanced gastrointestinal procedures in Hyderabad, India.

After completion of the fellowship, Dr Venugopal practiced at Bassett Medical Center in New York for 1 year. She also practiced at Albany Medical Center, New York.

Dr. Venugopal is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Some of her honors that she received during her training include the American College of Gastroenterology's 2012 National Obesity Award, for the effect of Body Mass Index on common GI procedures. She also received the Maimonides Best Research Award for The Effect of Obesity on the Quality of Preparation for Colonoscopy.She is active member of ACP and ACG.

Her interest in gastroenterology include upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, Endoscopic mucosal resections of large polyps, dilations of stricture and stenosis in the GI tract, Luminal Stenting for benign and cancerous obstruction of the digestive system and Variceal banding.

She is married with two kids. She enjoys reading books and traveling.
